In honor of Alabama's senior statesman, Richard C. Shelby, loyal representative of The United States of America and dedicated U.S. Senator from The State of Alabama, We hereby propose a lasting emblem of respect and gratitude from fellow citizens.

The proposed Richard C. Shelby Monument is proposed to be established to revere the sacrifice, dedication, and loyalty of an Alabamian of determination and courage. We today propose the establishment of a citizen park with a 100ft obelisk monument in honor of Alabama's honorable Senator Richard C. Shelby. Located across from or adjacent to The U.S. Federal Building and Courthouse in Tuscaloosa, Alabama this monument park will compliment the city of Tuscaloosa and serve as a testament to our people of the recognition and worth of a man of integrity and vision.
