Towering Obelisk

The Alabama Monument Society is proposing a towering 100 Ft obelisk in recognition of Senator Richard C. Shelby. This symbol represents a determination to reach for the greatest heights. This monument establishes recognition and serves as a symbol of tremendous sacrifice, effort, and accomplishment by Senator Richard C. Shelby.

This obelisk type of a monument is also a nationally revered symbol of our nation and of our nation's founding father, and it also serves as a remembrance symbol of our Senator's diligent efforts in our nation's capital. Honors are often bestowed among other great historic leaders while in their prime of historical significance. We feel now is the time has arrived to honor our long serving national and state leader.

This striking symbol will compliment the proposed monument park and the new federal building in a high traditional form. The exact type stone, shade, and engineering of the monument will be decided in coming weeks but will be selected for longevity and perpetual presence.
